Spot Location

Kalypso canyon is located on the eastern forested slopes of Mt. Kissavos, overlooking the Aegean sea, close to Karitsa village. It is considered as one of the most impressive canyons in the country, a thrilling and unique experience, not only for the experienced, but also, for the amateur canyoning enthusiasts. The abseils (6m – 7m – 17m – 12m and 60m), along with waterslides, several jumps in large crystal clear pools and an amazing natural environment makes visiting this spot a truly unique experience even for the most demanding canyoner. The canyon, due to its length and different skill level requirements, is divided into 2 sections (Kalypso I and II), the first section being more suitable for the more keen and adventurous, whereas the second section for the less experienced, families and children. The duration of the descent is about 7.00’ to 8.00’ hours and the ideal period of visiting this spot, would be from May till late October.

Canyoning requires specific equipment and techniques that must be adapted to the natural environment. That is why, we advise you to check regularly our ‘Schools / Clubs’ section, in order to get in contact with nearby qualified instructors, that will introduce you safely to this exciting activity. Although, canyoning schools will provide you with all necessary technical equipment, we suggest that you visit our ‘Equipment Shops’ section, in order to choose your technical apparel. Furthermore, we highly recommend you to visit our ‘Accommodation’ section, for nearby accommodation arrangements.
