Spot Location

Agios Ioannis is a large beach, with crystal water and white sand, located on the north coast of the island, only 2km from Lefkada town. It is facing the open sea and as a result, super thermal wind, 15-20 knots on average, blows steadily in summer, on a daily basis, making it a very popular destination for kitesurfers and windsurfers from all over Europe. The sea is shallow with a few rocks and when the wind is high, it creates small to medium waves, ideal for freestyle and long distance kite surfing. The ideal period to visit this spot is from mid April to late September, when the temperature is higher and the winds more appropriate. Kitesurfing usually takes place in front of the windmills that stand along the right side of the beach because the wind is more stable there, while windsurfing is mostly practiced on the left side, where the winds soften.

Kitesurfing / Windsurfing and SUP activities require specific equipment and techniques that must be adapted to the natural environment. For this reason it is strongly advised that you check regularly our ‘Schools / Clubs’ section, in order to get in contact with nearby qualified instructors, that will introduce you safely to this exciting activity. Although, kitesurfing / windsurfing / SUP schools will provide you with all necessary technical equipment, we encourage you to  visit our ‘Equipment Shops’ section, in order to choose your technical apparel. Furthermore, we highly recommend you to visit our ‘Accommodation’ section, for nearby accommodation arrangements.
